The Society of True Afrikaners
Lording over the mountains the Taal Monument, founded by the Society of True Afrikaners, this dedication to the Afrikaans Language sits in front of Paarl Rock (a giant rock that juts out of Paarl Mountain). It’s partner, the Paarl Taal Museum is housed in the former home of Gideon Malherbe, a founding member of the Society of True Afrikaners. The vision for both the monument and museum is to function in such a way that all South Africans appreciate and respect the Afrikaans language. It is here that local and international visitors will discover a comprehensive collection of well-conducted research and hordes of relevant information about the development and origin of the Afrikaans language.
This monument also delivers an exquisite 1.2km walking trail, boasting extraordinary views.
