About this route

Cupped between the Langeberg and Riviersonderend mountain ranges The Robertson wine valley is found along theScenic Route 62. Go on a journey of discovery and experience true country hospitality as you explore more than 50 award winning wineries, unique attractions, a variety of exciting outdoor activities and accommodation for the easy traveller and glamour hungry alike. The Roberston Wine Valley is set a mere 90 minutes outside Cape Town, this wine route with the sprawling Breede River running through it; is attractive for its towering mountain ranges, breathtaking landscapes of flower fringed streets and of course their exceptional range of world class wines for you to enjoy.

Members of the Robertson wine route are renowned for creating truly unforgettable experiences; you may choose to enjoy a breezy glass of wine at one of the smaller family owned and run boutique wineries or indulge in the decadence offered by large modern wineries! When in Robertson why not embark on a Tractor trip adventure, taste delicious olives and cheese, play golf or unwind with the picnic on a Breede River Valley Boat Cruise; and indulge in a bit of pampering when you treat yourself to a day of massage and relaxation. For the more adventurous The Roberston Wine Valley offers some outdoor activities including; mountain and quad biking, hiking trails, fishing, horse riding, 4×4 Mountain Trips, Sky Diving, River Rafting and Zip Sliding.

Winters in Robertson can be cold, with snow on the mountains and occasional rain. Pack rain gear and warm clothes. Summers can be hot so pack hats and sun cream.
From Cape Town, take the N1 towards Worcester. On the N1 at the third traffic light, turn right into Worcester, pass over the bridge, and take the second turn off left into Main Street (following the signs for Robertson (R60)). Turn right at the traffic light two city blocks later and the R60 for about 40km until you reach Robertson.

It would be best to have your own car to explore the Robertson Wine Valley. Alternately, utilise the services of a tour operator, or hire a car in Cape Town or Robertson.

Originally recognized for producing red wines and high quality, fortified wines, recently we’ve seen some delicious, award winning red and white wines emerging from the Swartland Wine Route, which continues to produce top class port style wines.

From the center of Cape Town head north, taking the N1/Table Bay Boulevard onramp. From the N1, take exit 10 (Sable Road), keep right, and follow the signs for the N7/Malmesbury. Stay on this road for about 60km. From the N7, exit left onto Voortrekker Road (R45) which loops around, and follow this road for approximately 800m until you reach De Kock Street.
